About the Session: 2020 is proving to be a huge year for ICD10 with hundreds upon hundreds of updates. Join national coding authority, Lynn Handy, CPC, CPC-I, COC, CCS-P, LPN as she takes you through what you need to know. Topics include:

  1. 20+ New Pressure induced deep tissue damage codes
  2. New acute and chronic Embolism and thrombosis vein codes
  3. New Atrial fibrillation codes
  4. Cyclical vomiting in migraine code revisions
  5. New codes for Heat and sunstroke
  6. External cause of morbidity is adding codes for injuries due to various means (i.e. firearm discharge, explosives, gas, sharp objects, manhandling, stun gun just to name a few)

About the SpeakerLynn Handy brings to CodingAID more than 30 years of health care experience in medical office management, insurance billing and coding, and professional nursing.  She is an accomplished medical practice consultant and an experienced educator in the areas of insurance billing and coding, physician E/M coding and documentation training, computerized insurance billing and Medicare compliance.

Prior to joining CodingAID, Lynn was the Senior Director of Professional Audit & Coding Services at Altegra Health. Lynn was director of professional development and compliance at RevCare, Inc., where she was responsible for the development of training programs for employees, clients and the general public.  She was also the corporate compliance, audit and education program manager for Sharp Healthcare in San Diego.  In this role, she implemented system-wide audit and education programs for physicians in Sharp’s outpatient clinics.

In previous positions, Lynn was manager of due diligence for Medical Capital Corporation, office manager for an Orange County medical practice, and a back office nurse for a variety of physicians and medical clinics.

Lynn is an approved instructor for the professional medical coding curriculum through the American Academy of Professional Coders and was a board member for a major project in San Diego to develop and implement a comprehensive hospital coding program.  She was also an editor for McGraw-Hill’s Medical Insurance Billing Textbook and developed the curriculum for a course regarding billing and coding at a local college.  Lynn was a consulting editor for the coding section of the AAFP management magazine.  Lynn is a previous advisory board member of the PMCC Teach the Teacher Advisory Board for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Lynn is a Certified Professional Coder, CPC, CPC-I, COC, CCS-P, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business management.
