ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Gabriela is currently the Government and External Affairs Analyst at the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP).

Prior to Joining CAP in 2014, she spent three years in Sacramento at the State Capitol as a Senior Legislative Aide to a southern California Assembly member. It was during her time at the state capitol that she developed and shaped her knowledge and deepened her understanding of legislative matters, creating a skillset that has allowed her to enhance her collaborations with multiple stakeholders, both within and outside the company.

Gabriela assists in analyzing state and federal legislation impacting CAP and the medical professional liability industry. Along with the company’s state and federal lobbyists, she tracks and monitors bills throughout the legislative process. She collaborates with other company departments to provide information and education on legislation and regulatory issues related to their functions. Amongst her varied tasks, she is responsible for writing a monthly policy column for the company’s monthly newsletter and provides original and curated content to CAP’s public affairs webpage and other social media platforms.

Since 2018, Gabriela has been on the CAMGMA Executive Board in the role of Legislative Liaison.

Gabriela is a graduate of Occidental College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literature Studies.
