About the Session:
Those of us in healthcare know our system has some terminal flaws. Many of our daily pain points can be assuaged – if not eliminated – by embracing empathy, compassion, and kindness for ourselves, our colleagues, our teams, and our patients. Following a few simple steps, we can all lead the change and start the work of healing healthcare.
Objectives:
- Describe some of the common pain points in healthcare today, including burnout, provider and patient satisfaction, morale, staff turnover, health disparities and inequities, and systemic bias.
- Identify the research on how a shift towards empathy, compassion, and kindness can make a difference in many of these areas.
- Implement learned techniques to create and shape this shift in yourselves, as well as in your teams, workplaces, and organizations to embrace and embody a culture of empathy, compassion, and kindness.
